Midlothian Local Development Plan 2 - Proposed Plan Consultation

Overview

We have produced the Proposed Midlothian Local Development Plan 2 (MLDP2) which follows on from the Evidence Report. This will shape the development and use of land in the area from 2027-2037. In MLDP2 the Council will allocate sites for development, identify places to be protected, and set out the policies that will be used when deciding planning applications.

The consultation period opens on 30 June 2026 and finishes on 25 September 2026.  During this time, you can let us know what you think of the Proposed MLDP2 and associated documents by completing this survey and making a representation

Why your views matter

The Council has a statutory duty to seek the views of the public and key stakeholders on the Proposed MLDP2 and to take these views into account during plan preperation. 

This consultation period provides an opportunity for individuals have their say on, and influence, the Proposed MLDP2, Draft Delivery Programme, Draft Environmental Report and Non-Technical Summary and Draft Habitats Regulations Appraisal.

All information collected is done so in line with the Development Planning-MLDP2 Privacy Notice and may be shared with the Scottish Ministers and parties to the Examination where any issue(s) raised in your representation is unresolved.
