Local Housing Strategy 2026/27 - 2030/31
Overview
All Local Authorities have to provide a Local Housing Strategy (LHS) - a five year document which sets out the Local Authority’s plans to improve housing and housing provision in the area. Midlothian Council is currently working on a draft Local Housing Strategy to cover the period 2026 to 2031 and we need your ideas and suggestions.
Why your views matter
The Local Housing Strategy (LHS) is at the heart of the arrangements for housing and planning in Midlothian. This is your opportunity to influence housing plans and provisions for the next five years.
This is an initial consultation; your comments and suggestions will be added to the draft document which will be presented to your councillors in Autumn 2025.
There will be further opportunities to take part and influence the final document.
What happens next
Your comments and suggestions will be added to the draft document. The draft Local Housing Strategy will require further public consultation and feedback before it is finalised and returned to your elected members for consideration in early 2026.
