Taxis and Private Hire Cars - Review of Licensing Conditions
Overview
Taxi and Private Hire Car licensing conditions represent a standard by which the Council (the Licensing Authority) expects the trade to operate to ensure public safety.
Through discussions with representatives of the taxi and private hire car business sector it has become apparent that these conditions would benefit from a review to reflect modern practices and to bring them in line with other neighbouring Councils.
Accordingly, revised draft conditions have now been prepared for public consultation. Comments on these draft conditions are invited from taxi and private hire operators, members of the public, representative groups, as well as stakeholders such as the Midlothian Taxi Owners Association, the Private Hire Association and Police Scotland.
Why your views matter
It is important we receive views on the draft conditions from any frequent or occasional users of taxi and private hire cars as fee paying customers and from drivers who's livelihoods depend on being able to operate a viable taxi or private hire business/service.
We are also particularly interested in the views of those who may have disabilities or from organisations who represent these groups, local transport user groups and womens groups. Other enforcement bodies such as the Police also have an important part to play in commenting on matters of public safety.
What are your views on the rules concerning the operation of taxis and private hire cars?
