Shawfair 2-18 Education Consultation

Overview

The consultation report was considered by elected members at a meeting of full Council on Tuesday 22nd September 2026 and the proposals were approved:

  • New primary and secondary school catchment areas will be established for the proposed Shawfair 2-18 Education Campus, and the catchment areas of Danderhall Primary School, and Dalkeith High School will be realigned
  • A new all through school with early learning, primary and secondary learning, and specialist additional support needs (ASN) provision will be established for the proposed Shawfair 2-18 education campus catchment area
  • The new all through school will open on its permanent site on the completion of the new building in August 2028 or as soon as possible thereafter

  • A realignment of the Danderhall Primary School Catchment Area and Dalkeith High School Catchment Area from August 2027.

 

What happens next

The statutory consultation began on Thursday 26 March 2026 and ended on Wednesday 27 May 2026. 

The proposals contained in this consultation will be considered by Elected Members at a meeting of Midlothian Council on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.
